Hug a tree and call me in the morning

Did you know that doctors in Scotland can prescribe nature? How cool is that?! This is based off of studies that have found time spent in nature can lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, improve immunity, improve pain control and increase happiness. There is even a leaflet of nature prescriptions. Here are a couple of suggestions for the month of June that perhaps you might want to try:

  • Don’t mow the lawn – and watch the minibeasts move in

  • Solitude in nature clarifies thought – carve out some time to yourself and go explore somewhere you’ve never been before

  • Sit cross-legged on the ground, close your eyes and listen to the birds

So knowing that nature offers all of these wonderful benefits, let's not wait for a doctor to prescribe it to us. Let's live proactively, managing our health with intention. Let's get out in nature, breath deeply, be present and hug that tree! Your mind, body and soul will thank you.

To your heath!
